Change the game!

Don't miss our conference and workshop on the dangers and opportunities of digital technology. How to work under political pressure? What can social bots do against hate speech? How to use blockchain? And what are the liabilities of intermediaries? Join us in Leipzig for GAME CHANGER.

These are bad times for media freedom in Europe. No matter if it’s in an EU Member State or candidate country, journalists are being threatened, spied on, hacked. They are sent to jail, they are slandered, attacked and murdered. Just because they are doing their job.

ECPMF's annual conference GAMER CHANGER - digital developments and media freedom is a follow-up to last year's "Defending journalists under threat" conference. After presenting analogue ways to protect journalists, like safe havens and legal support, this year we will talk about digital self-defence. What are the dangers and opportunities of new technologies? How to work under political pressure? What can social bots do against hate speech? How to use blockchain? And what are the liabilities of intermediaries?

Meet and hear: Jules Giraudat (Forbidden Stories/Daphne Project/France), Nani Jansen Reventlow (Digital Freedom Fund/Germany), Marie-Teresa Weber (Facebook/Germany), Gökhan Bicici (Dokuz8News/Turkey), Blanca Tapia (EU Agency for Fundamental Rights/Austria), Blanka Zöldi (Direkt36/ Hungary), Susanne Nasr Fischer (Internews/Germany), Jillian C. York (Electronic Frontier Foundation/Germany), Prof Dirk Voorhoof (Legal Human Academy, CoE Committee of Experts on Internet Intermediaries/Belgium) ...

In addition to that, we offer a hands-on workshop for journalists and activists by Tactical Tech on How to keep your data safe when travelling abroad. What are the digital possibilities? What are your rights and duties at the border or when confronted with authorities? If you would like to participate, please register here.

We look forward to seeing you at our conference
